AOET is an independent, indigenous non-governmental organization with the prime mandate of providing an education — formal and/or vocational — to desperately poor, neglected and forgotten orphans whose parents have died of AIDS. AOET assists children with AIDS and widows that have lost their spouses to AIDS and most of them HIV+ themselves.
AOET moves children from the streets into families. African culture has not traditionally institutionalized orphans. AOET places a great value on placing children with foster families providing mother and/or fathers who care for them responsibly.

AOET supports children with direct school sponsorship funding, school admission and supplies to children who otherwise would be on the streets. These children receive not only an education but a safe mentoring atmosphere through school to help them grow and mature. For many Uganda children, the expense of the required uniform is enough to prevent them from attending school.

Families are unable to absorb the expense of caring for another child. Many times, the widow whose husband has died of AIDS has no marketable skills. AOET assists caregivers and foster family siblings with practical skills to enable them to support themselves and care for their children. AOET provides startup equipment and funds to start small businesses. These efforts indirectly impact the lives of thousands of children.

VOLUNTEER OPPURTUNITIES
AOET~Uganda has many opportunities for mission groups, families, couples or singles who are interested in servicing AIDS orphans and widows in the heart of Africa.

There are opportunities in all aspects of AOET’s operations. Anyone with a heart to reach out and serve orphans and widows in Africa will find exciting projects to bring God’s love to these deserving people.

Construction workers, painters, administrators, managers, evangelist - your time and skills will be put to great use! Some specific areas of need are listed below but AOET is open to whatever your interest as you desire to support the children of Uganda.
